Which DIR course

I must say I like reading some of the DIR posts, & like the Idea of doing it right etc.etc. What would be a good course for me to show me how to trim my dangaly bits & loose my snorkle etc (just a joke about the snorkle) I dont really have one. Seriously can someone tell me about the courses & are they worth doing....

Cheers
Dave

The first thing to ask yourself is how large is your..........erm.......... orifice.

Because it depends on the course as to how large the 'probe' is.

OK, its 1 am, don't expect a serious answer

David

The course to start all DIR training is DIR Fundamentals.

Here's a course report from my recent course.

My own view is that there is something in the course for everyone

Everyone has to start with the DIR-F (Fundamentals course). From there you can progress towards Technical courses 1, 2 and 3, or towards cave course 1, 2 or 3.

However, everyone starts at the beginning and it's all open circuit.

Correct. I wish people would stop confusing GUE with DIR. You don't have to take a GUE course to learn about DIR, same as you don't need to buy Halcyon gear to have DIR equipment.

Iy's got nothing to do with confusing DIR and GUE. The course from GUE was called DIR-f until recently, at least in all the documentation I have received, and indeed on the GUE website (http://www.gue.com/Training/Recreational/index.html). There are other options available for DIR training but I wasn't aware there are any in the UK?

If you are looking for a DIR course just to tidy up the kit you wear, and you dive rebreather give Mark Powell a call and he will do a skills workshop for you, and you get to stay on rebreather.

it will be cheaper and if you do diver rebreather more beneficial

Graham
