Question: NAUI Technical Diver in the UK?
Purely to gauge interest, would anyone be interested in a DIR-oriented NAUI Technical Diver course in the UK? (Note: NOT a GUE course!)

It's similar to tech1, but not exactly the same obviously

The instructors would be Andrew Georgitsis and Joe Talavera.

I've just read the course requirements, why do you have to be a non-smoker?

Because that is a requirement of the agency, same as it is for GUE.

What does the course certify you for, in terms of gases / depths etc? Couldn't find it on the website (though it's probably somewhere really obvious and I missed it).

Nah, it's not really obvious at all - and I'm waiting for confirmation. I'll post here when I get it.

It is a trimix course though with a maximum depth during the course of 45M.

It's Tech1 by another name (not unsurprising as Georgitsis designed the original Fundies and Tech1 courses and he's now the training director of NAUI). I'm sure you'd get an excellent course - but why not just do tech with Lundgren over here? Tech1 now qualifies you to 58m on 18/45 which is handy for the old life insurance and is a more recognised qualification in Europe (not that either of them are exactly ubiquitous)

That was the question that was on my lips - however my answer would be that it not being GUE is a good thing, potentially. Might answer the old "are DIR and GUE one and the same" question if we get a mix of DIR qualifying agencies with as impeccable pedigree as AG brings.

The second answer might just be the chance to train with AG, rather than Lundgren.

This is just another option

I'm just looking at possibilities and if enough people are interested then the course costs come down.

Put another way - why do tech with Richard instead of NAUI with AG?
