July fundies

Myself and 2 others have just spent the last four days in the company of Clare and Al attempting GUE Fundies.

I'll keep this short as most of you know the way it goes.

Saturday was spent doing lectures and swim test with some instruction into back kicking and helicopter turns and being taken from behind by clare in the pool (that must be where the implant is inserted )

Sunday and Monday we spent in Vobster. First dive sunday seemed ok, second one wasnt as good. Monday morning was a few drills in the B and B carpark which also included a pony (im sure pics will follow), the dives that day were a (or at least to me) felt an utter disaster.

Which just left Tuesday, this was the 5th and final dive which was planned to be the Fleur de Lys out of Swanage (in proper salty water) aboard the Smooth Hound. The weather was glorious, the sea flat calm and the ice cream was divine. The plan was to kit up run through the dive plan and briefs, descend the shot onto the wreck, and carry out the remaining skills. The have a look about and see what else may happen. It kinda happened that way, except for a bit of a current and some dodgy self induced low viz. But everyone completed their drills and all surfaced together (even if one of us thought we were at the needles and that wasnt a male diver), for more ice cream back on the pier.

I achieved a Rec pass which im pretty chuffed with and just need to practice a few things to get that upgraded to a tech.

So a big thanks to Clare for her instruction and encouragement, Al for some pretty good video work, Gary and Jonathon (sp) who were the other 2 team members. See you all again in the future.

I didn't think GUE advocated the use of a pony
