Hi Rab,
GUE is recognised by the HSE as an approved body for recreational scuba diving training. GUE is also on the BDSG (British Diving Safety Group).
We could go through the hoops needed to Join EUF, but that costs a lot of money, and frankly I can't see the point, as I can't see any benefits.
Who would you like us to be recognised by? Most of the agencies in the UK know about us, but whether they give any cross-over for our qualifications is up to them.
Thanks
John

JOHN thankyou for that post,
Now that is the information that I can use. The case here in ireland is quite simple. Divers here are no mugs they want the best training available to them, however they will not pay their well earned pennies for a qualification that has no status or recognition within the industry.
You have given me the answer that I would need to "sell" courses from GUE.
I think it is a mistake not to go for EUF recognition, yes there are hoops to go through and a thorough check of standards and training, I have been involved in the process and it is lengthy audited process.
Again thanks for your post
Be nice to insecure divers
2010 Im going to try and be nice!!!!!

I believe the requirement is that you have adequate third party insurance for club dives, all agencies charge to register qualifications but this is normally included in the course price, as BSAC don't charge for training other than to cover costs then you will pay for the cost of producing and registering the cert card...
its been talked about in this thread on and off about cross over and equivelant quals and the rest , kit config and reg donation and the likes , ,, but where , as a dir /gue outsider do you start , is there a minimum starting point , age, previous experience , medical , fitness standards , knowledge base . or is it just a sign up for the course , i think the lecture demonstration event is a really good idea , just for the rest of us to actually see gue in action , so to speak.
