Hold on a moment, this review was aimed at the average diver with average diving skills (the kind of thing they would pick up from diving with a BSAC club or PADI course in other words). By saying that specific training is required to use the Halcyon kit then you are saying that its unsuitable for the diver that the review was intended for. So why are you surprised that it didn't rate as a good wing for the average diver then?

Horses for Courses

You do have to remember that Halcyon equipment is aimed at a very specific market segment... DIR divers (who are aware of the neccisary setup issues).

DIVER sells to the entire dive market. To expect them to have the indepth expertise in every single diving sub-catagories to the same level as people on this forum sub-folder is unresonable.

Either you are DIR-aware in which case you would be able (and willing) to sort out any setup issues.
If you are not DIR-aware then then Halcyon is proabily not for you.

Rob Bez.

PS: I have an Agir-Brokk wing!

What, like nitrox?
What about trimix?
no?
Similar to a Buddy Inspiration then? or is that different?

You need a "special training course" for all this - don't you?

;-)

Ahh... So Halcyon wings are on a par with a rebreather, are they?

Finally, an explanation for the price!

I'm waiting for the warning to appear. "Warning! This Halcyon wing is capable of killing you without warning!"

My God it must be more rubbish than I first thought if you need something as intensive as a 5 day CCR course or an eight-day six dive Trimix course to use it properly. I assume its all those bail out drills for the sticking 'precision inflators' that take up the first few days

I just put my wing on and figured it all out by my self in a couple of dives. My wing must be fantastic. I had never realised how good it was until now

Yep, great as long as you swim along at 45 degrees

Depends. Is that centigrade or fahrenheit?

Oh no - I've got a Halcyon HiD and I'm not DIR aware. Will be my insurance still be valid or will I have to do some kind of course?

I've had enough!

Pleeeease.......Can we remove this bu*lshit from the DIR forum?

The DIR forum is supposed to be for people interested in the DIR philosophy.

If this sort of "DIR baiting" continues, admin should lock it so that only those who display a genuine interest can contribute (as promised).

I am willing to contribute here and help those who are genuinely interested, but if this continues, I'm off. I'm sure Andy shares the same view.

Thank you.

Bob
