DIR - DVD

Iv seen a few times the mention of a DIR DVD. I would like to get a copy but have never seen it advertised. Will any one be selling them at the show. Are they worth buying and how much do they cost?

Thanks

Jamie

I bought one from DIR Direct and, without having a go at GUE or DIR, it is one of the most comically bad pieces of film I've ever watched. Yes, some good information is got across but mostly it is JJ and GI3 looking like rabbits caught in car head lights or rambling away in an unstructured way as they don't seem to have an autoqueue or prompt boards. They sound is also very bad as the microphones seem to have been placed next to the kit (which they take many minutes over assembling and disassembling) so its quite difficult to hear them sometimes.

Ok, perhaps I'm being a little harsh as, unless you're a trained actor, being in front of a camera is pretty hard and un-nerving at the best of times but the DVD really isn't worth the money. I'd buy the books instead if you're interested in DIR.

GIR- Getting It Right shouldn't have been too difficult. It comes down to prior preparation and producing a teaching piece that respects the viewing audience. Surprising since they have been in front of the camera multiple times before!

True! true! Piss poor performance due to piss poor planning.

They did not do it right! Seems rather sad as the DIR ways is for proper preparation and planning.

Should practice what they preach! - IMHO.

Underwater Explorers may do. They're the shop behind DIRdirect.com, and are going to the show.

The videography's pretty bad, (with the exception of the cave bit at the end of disk 3..) but you buy it for the info. Whether or not this is useful will depend on how much you already know about DIR, and how much you want to know.

I got mine from Underwater Explorers in Portland. Pretty good box set with the WKPP 19000ft record breaker inserted FOC at the end of Disc 3
