ScubaPro Fins - Pro Fin vs Jet Fin

Guys,

Due to the current shortage of XL Jet Fins, I was having a hunt around and found an advert for some second-hand. Bargain, I thought, but now I've got them they aren't actually jet fins they are pro-fins according to the moulding on the top of the foot pocket & they look quite a bit different ( see photo attached, I hope!!). They feel a lot lighter than I remember jet fins being, althought they do weigh just over a kilo each.

Are they going to work as well as jet fins or do I need to continue hunting ?

Thanks

Andy

Have you had a look at Northen Diver Jet Fins they have stock of XL.

Blade is slightly smaller but they are cheaper....£39.00.

I have these with Agir-Brokk springs, very nice.

Anyway if you like the way the Pro fins feel why not just stick with them?

Not sure about his stock mate but you could try my local LDS Aquaholics - he may be out of them as well but he does have them on his site - may be worth a try.

Let us know how you get on

Hello,

The only thing why I am looking at Jetfins as these maybe will fit better my booties as I struggle to remove my MAres Aqanti quattro XL from them?

Pierre,
I paid $ 64 for shipping from the US to Qatar, that was for a pair of Jet fins and a Dive Rite primary reel.

If you struggle to get the Mares Avanti's off then you'll probably have more problems the Jet Fins. The XL is really not that big, and the XXL is massive. I'm now looking to try some Turtle fins as they are supposed to be a bit more sensible in the foot pocket sizes.

Dave.

Turtle Fins

Brass Monkey

I have some XXL Turtles that I got from Underwater Explorers as I had trouble with the largest Scubapro Jets as they were too tight on my size 12's (O'Three suit). The Turtles are huge but then they suit my boots just fine, they also do a Tech Fin in XXL which is a good Jet Fin copy and come with spring straps as well, all reasonably priced. I fitted the Turtles with my own spring straps, I got the shackles from Sub Aqua Products and I find the fins very good.

Pierre, I think you had seen the pics of my Turtles. I love them They cost me $150 CND and an other $100 for the springs but what the he11!! . They are great. I use them on the dry suit boots and I had baught a thick wet suit boots too of the wet dives. They fit great, their pockets are larger than the XXL scuba pro.

Some tricks with the spring buckles - get a cotter pin to through the buckle rubber on the fin. Then there is no mishaps during dives. The other thing that might take a bit to get used to is the width. They are a bit wider than normal but once you get used to them they are great.

Hi Andy,

Have you got access to a pair of Jets for comparison? The blades seem a little small to me but it's difficult to tell from the pic. Main thing is blade size/stiffness and I've tried a few different types including ND and Turtles. They are not as stiff as the SPro Jets.

I'm sure they'll do for a while though...

Fraser.
