Question Halcyon Proteus 3 Light - Condensation Problem

Hi Guys,

My Proteus 3 has some condensation build up between the light and lens.

The light is working okay except the light is illumination on the white side instead of the usual blue colour.

Question: How do I remove the lens to dry the inside?

Image of torch with fixed beam head for reference:-

Thanks in advance.

Gary.

Gary,

Just twist the lens retaining ring on the front of the head and this will release the lens etc.

On replacing, just take care that the lens and the O ring are flush and seated correctly.

All the best

The light head featured in that picture is different from that in the manual i.e the one I had!

I got one of these at the show and it's only been used three times and i have exactly the same problem with two beads of moisture in the same position as yours. Spoke to U/E who want me to send the top part back for them to look at it.
How many times have you used yours, not sure whether to try and sort it myself then.

The manual has no reference to the fixed head light head only the focusable.
The online PDF is same as one I have.

Maybe the condensation problem is a common fault, hope not….

I will be calling shop tomorrow for a resolution.

Cheers,

Gary.

Guys,

We have the newish (post-2002) focusable 10w Helios's. Condensation often appears on the lens during the first dive after we have opened up the light head. We usually just open it up again and wipe away the moisture. If you've only done 1 or 2 dives with the torches I wouldn't worry about it.

From quickly looking at one before I imagine if you removed the internal circlip in front of the lens it would fall out.

Sounds like the safest option.

Its very easy to take apart not so easy to put back together. Once shown how its done you will do it your self evey time.

when your diving next ask someone with same torch about it. They will be only to pleased to show you.

Garth and I were messing with his torch, later that day Dennis in Ocean view
Selsey showed use how to do it, it is so simple when you know how and too difficult for me to explain in words sorry.

David

Please try and explain...

I can see a metal ring holding the lens in but how to move it to remove it?

Thanks,

Gary.
