OK I understand that but what about the materials that the goods were made from (Delrin). It's public domain knowledge that High Springs Police Department recovered approx $25,000 of Halcyon manufacturing products from Salvo Diving!

I assume that the worse that could happen is that goods purchased could be seized - although not that likely in the UK. Does raise doubts though, especially from a support / warranty point of view. Guess time will tell.

Bardo,

I was talking about comparing the B.M 21W HID to the one I've ordered from Howard Sandroff (also 21W). Should be an interesting comparison especially as Howard still uses the WA bulbs.

It shouldn't raise any doubts whatsoever, firstly I'm sure that no man or woman from the USA would be allowed to run his/her business without intervention and also be allowed to sell and ship products around the world were there any doubts or concerns whatsoever by the American authorities as to the legalities or ownership of said products being sold/shipped.

As far as support/warranty is concerned, the good news is that from next week, anyone requiring spares will be able to access them from the UK in a day or two rather than a week or more, I think this act alone speaks volumes about this guys intent to provide the best service for his customers that he possibly can.. nuff said.

Regards
Dave.

Dave,

I know nothing about the legal system in the US and therefore can't comment on how long processes would take to close down a business if the owner was found guilty of theft. All I know is :

"On 23-November-2004, a warrant for the arrest of Barry Miller on the charges of Felony Larceny and Felony Sale of Stolen Goods, was exercised by the Alachua County Sheriff's office."

This 'fact' alone raises doubts in my mind. Others views may differ - yours especially as you've purchased items from Barry and spoken to him. (Kinda similar to how views differ on GI3 - the internet persona and the man in person).

The fact that Barry is supporting his product is good news (and good business sense, especially when the main advantage Halcyon offer is a life-time warranty).

Later - Dave.

Do you honestly think that the US authorities or indeed Halcyon themselves would allow Barry to continue to sell product if there was the slightest doubt in their mind that the materials he's using are stolen and therefore effectively evidence?!!! Get serious - if there was even the slightest chance of that, the Sheriff's department would have closed him down!!!! That's a bit like the Police allowing a burglar to continue to offload his ill-gotten goods after he's been caught - it just wouldn't happen!

As I said earlier, don't take anything you see at face value - there's *alot* more behind this than anyone on this forum knows. Only Halcyon, the Sheriff's Department and Barry know exactly what's really going on and for anyone outside of this loop to speculate is just darn right stupid. Just step back from the speculation and half-truths, use your common sense and draw your own conclusions - I did, which is why I bought a Salvo 13.5amp!!!!

I received a great deal of pro-Barry info from sources in the US.

Other facts such as that he was employed at Halcyon, left and then set his own competitive business also appear to be in the public domain and so I'll bring them up.

Whether Halcyon have anything to gain from discrediting the competition by bringing a lawsuit can clearly be debated.

Cheers
Al

As I said before - I have no idea how the US legal system works. All I know is he was arrested and there is still an on-going case against him. As I previously mentioned, the sheriff's department did seize goods from him. Guess we just have to wait to see if the charges come to anything.

I'm not taking anything at face value - I asked a question regarding the risk involved with purchasing and the response I got was "order with confidence". So I guess the real concern is a moral one.

Regards - Dave.

PS//I picked up some real cheap replica clothes, copied music CD's, computer software etc from Thailand if anyone wants some then just drop me a line. Dont worry the police would have shut down the Thai companies if it wasn't legal ;-)

Quack, Quack.

Guys,

Since barry is a new member of YD should we not just wait and see what happens and give him the credit he's due?

The Salvo lights are a completley different design/spec than that of the Halcyon ones, therefore rest assured theres no funny business!
