Question DIR-Zone products - cheap, reliable source?

Looking to pick up a couple of DIR-Zone products. Anyone recommend a reliable online retailer with 'keen' prices? So far these guys are the best I've seen...

http://www.tec-diver.com/

I'm particularly interested in the export-spec 6cft argon bottle and the tiny DIR-Zone argon regulator. Out of interest, any of you guys who have the 6cft argon bottle (calling Frogman!) know what type of thread it has?

Hi mate,

Get in touch with Andy Kerslake. He is knocking out the DIR ZOne stuff in the UK. I have the argon bottle and reg, very nice they are too.

As far as I am aware it has an M25 thread.

Fraser.

If it is marked DOT and/or TC it will have 3/4" NPSM thread (ratings will probably be in psi)

If it has european markings "CE mark" and ratings in bar it will have an M25 thread.

Don't mix up the two, they are close but not close enough!

Bob

6cf tanks??

HI,

are there now CE stamped 6cf tanks available? I have a DOT one from the USA but I would prefer one with a CE stamp.

Fraser - thanks for the tip off! I'll be seeing Andy in early February so I'll be sure to chat to him about DIR-Zone stuff. Does Andy sell the 6cf argon bottles?

And Bob - thanks for the info re: cylinder markings. Anyone know whether the 6cf argon bottle from http://www.tec-diver.com/ is USA or Euro spec?

Their site says for export only so I presume that means not CE stamped ie. USA spec.

Bardo,

You could try contacting Sandro direct. Go to the web page find the contact details and give him a bell or drop him an e-mail. He accepts payment via paypal and has always been very helpfull and patient with me in the past!!

If you're tight (like me) then try using telestunt for routing the call - check out www.telestunt.co.uk, calls are just charged to your normal account but not at the normal rates!!

Later - Dave.

Bardo,

As Dave has said, Sandro is very friendly, give him a call on +49-2335-848370. The 6cf is not m25 as far as Im aware, it's pretty close though, as Bob said!

He does a really nice little argon regulator too. If your gonna go for the 6cf DOT, get a decant whip too.

Thanks Frogman and DGL!

Out of interest Frogman, is your 6cf a US-spec bottle as well? If so, where did you buy yours and did it come with the valve or did you have to source a US-spec valve for it too? Cheers!

And yes, that little argon regulator of yours did look very nice. I've been using a DS4 until now but I'm quite tempted to invest in one of those too in an effort to minimalise my argon rig - the DS4 will get relagated to being a backup for my backgas regulators...

It's DOT US spec mate, from DIRZONE complete with Valve. DS4 is a bit of an overkill IMO for an argon reg anyway.
