The Ultimate Dilema

Whilst chatting to SWMBO last night, it became apparent that she didn't fully understand what the next step in GUE training was!

I told her about my intentions of doing Tech 1, which involved trimix and 45m diving geared towards wreck.

She was not a happy bunny (Worries a lot when I'm diving)

The alternative was Cave 1 which involves cave diving funnily enough.

Again, she nearly sh*t a brick!

So as a sort of joke, I said "well it's either that or a £2k Gavin Scooter"!

To which she replied, "OK"!

So what would you do?

I have voted for both courses!
Reason: my buddies don't have scooters, my diving does not warrant them...Yet

I also wish to pursue training with GUE.

I do however take into account the concerns of my wife, she'll just need gentle persuassion

Cool

You've not got an option for 'both courses & get a scooter' ;-)

Dave.

I have not voted as I fear my actions may have lead to this sorry state.

Jeeeeeezzzzz M8 You have a lot to learn..

Forget Tech1 I would go for Advanced Ratification of Significant Other Negotiatians or ARSON for short.

This is aptly named as your going down in flames if you get it wrong.

Obviously your a novice so Ill just outline the basics...

Courses are NOT to advance your diving skill

Courses are NOT to extend your depth range or advance your diving envelope

ALL courses are to INCREASE SAFETY SKILLS

Obviously I am an advanced ARSON master with skills beyond your wildest dreams as demonstrated by the ownership of a YBOD and Mod3 training certification. This is the pinnacle of the art as not only do you have the life risk element and 10 day training commitment but you also have the massive cost.

Combine this with the fact my wife is errrrrrrr how shall I put this? A strong personality ANYONE who has met ling will vouch for this.

Key points

TIMING IS EVERYTHING

GO FOR THE WEEK SPOTS WITHOUT MERCY

YBOD case history....

That’s a lovely outfit darling why don’t you buy some shoes to match

Oh don’t worry about the cost. The extra for the shoes is worth it for that dress

Just whack it on the card and lets go, I am putting those shelves up when we get home.

..........................(in the car)

Oh by the way darling we have cancelled the diving booked for next weekend. My dive buddy was on a boat when some other divers had a bit of a scare running low on gas He has decided we need to do some refresher drills to ensure it doesn’t happen to us..

(Her week point/fear)

Apparently has looking into this amazing bit of kit that can give up to 10 hours worth of gas but it's not much bigger than a twin set.

Ohhhh the cost isn’t too bad I will sell all my present dive kit and that should cover it but I think it’s the SAFE way forward.

Both Andrew and I worry about getting low on gas so instead of going diving next week we booked on a course TO IMPROVE OUR SAFETY IN THE WATER.

By the way I am free tomorrow if you want to go to IKEA

(Steer conversation to bedside tables)

--------------------------

Have you told her what the course is called yet?

If not say you think she is right and instead of doing the TDI (Technical Death is Imminent) course you have decided to do a refresher safety course which will allow you to dive a safer gas mix that prevents narcosis and will improve your safety, gas sharing drills and underwater communication with your buddy. DIR Tec1

Seeee how easy that was....

I normally charge for this so consider your self lucky

ATB
