| Evening all Right - been webbing my harness, following: http://www.gasdiving.co.uk/pages/misc/kit/harness_2.htm The question i have is - what is the best way of routing the webbing through the buckle? I have a CD SS buckle, with three slots for the webbing to go through. Do i run it through then try to squeeze another route through the final slot or do you use a webbing retainer to hold the excess in? I have tried to find a place that explains this but cant Other thing is - bicycle inner tube is too small in diametre, what is the best inner tube to use? Keith

what size bicycle inner tube are you using, racing bike and mountain bike stuff is no good but some of the kiddies bikes have fat tyres, if all else fails go to your nearest motorbike tyre place , that fits well for most applications.

| For the buckle: fist slot is the one furthest away from the flappy bit up is away from your body up the first slot down the last slot up the middle slot down the first slot then it can't come off

| The flappy bit should be about 2 inches long. Chop it off if you are confident the webbing is the right length then tidy it up with a fag lighter. The flappy bit should lie on the inside of the harness against your waist, nicely hidden and out of the way.

| John Kendall posted a good answer to this a while back - complete with picture if you do a search. (I'm on a train so can't search for you). Ask Halfords for mountain Bike tyres - if you are lucky they will have one which they've taken off as a repair and won't charge you. Don't cut anything off until you are sure you are comfortable - which may take some time.

| Ok this is without a doubt the dullest posting i have ever done. Still- must teach everyone how to thread a buckle properly as everyone gets it wrong. Yes- I'm looking at you, Phil. Thread it this way and the loose end is at the back plus you will find it is flatter through the buckle plus there is no way that this will come loose- you could hang a herd of cows off it. Leaving the loose end at the top lets it come loose as the end is not trapped under a tensioned bit of belt. Am I boring you yet? I am losing the will to live. Anyway... ![]()
