Well, If I have a light, it's coming with me.

I can use it to signal.
I can use it to constrain the longhose.
It weighs a few pounds, so I might need less weight and/or have some ditchable weight.
I get to keep my configuration the same on all dives.

Yeah but if you'd just blown the bulb and out of frustration at paying £70 for a new one you threw your torch out the window, forgetting you live on the 3rd floor.....

As you said, if I had one it would be coming on nearly every dive as it's so useful. Martin chose not to use his recently though being a 'body' for a rescue course. Didn't much fancy his gear being slung aboard with that lighthead hanging off :o

I have to say the brass snaps, wetnotes clipped to chest rings, Poseidon regs etc wouldn't have lasted very long on Tech 1 with Andy K. And as Rich says, Tech 1 without a light??? The equipment requirements for the course state a primary light and two backups required... the mind boggles.

Fraser.

AK wore his light on every dive throughout our Tech 1 course both inland and in the sea - although it was switched off and clipped off at all times (so we weren't distracted by any of his light signals (and so we couldn't spot him coming ). However, on our last dive the vis was so crap that he couldn't see any of his gauges so he did use a scout back-up light.

I'm with Fraser - there are lots of bits and bobs on these pics which we wouldn't have got away with but it's alwasy so easy to pick holes in thins without the full story there is little point in doing so here.

Scenario.... gear goes on plane to course, one of the bags vanishes on route. Put together what you can from buddies' rigs and local dives store - clearly no spare cannister light or complaint regs or clips - borrowed suit has no pockets etc. etc. etc. but instructor happy to make allowances to allow teh course to go ahead. Far fetched? Maybe... but benefit of the doubt always a nice thing to give

Compromise on a DIR course? You'll be diving on air next when you can't get 32%
