Introduction to DIR workshop (Rich Walker) For those of you who don't know him, Rich Walker is a UK DIR Fundamentals Instructor. He has offered his time and advice free to those who are interested in learning more about DIR.

The programme of this workshop will be a chat on the surface where any kit related questions can be asked and then a dive where the fundamental skills can be demonstrated so you can have a go

Meet on the surface, kitted up and ready to go, at 9:30 am on Saturday.

The ratio of this course will be one to 3. If there are too many people for Rich to cover we have other tech 1 divers who will attend the course to assist in water.

This is an organisational thread for numbers only - can you PM me (or Rich) with questions about the day. It would greatly assist if you were to post comments and/or discussions elsewhere.

Do'ya'know some swine sent me an e-mail today about a fundies course at Cambridge. I only live an hour away from Cambridge!

But I can't do this weekend as a) I'm at Yarnfield Park[1] Stafford until 5pm on Friday (this is why I can't do Porgs St Abbs trip) and b) because I can't do St Abbs I'll be in York with my SO sans children whom we have farmed of to all and sundry for a long weekend.

Are you people TRYING to get me divorced

I would imagine that Rich will take you to the heady depths of ... oh... the 6 metre shelf All skills are harder in the shallows where buoyancy changes are the greatest so it is ideal for demonstrating stuff.

So up to you (although if you will want 32 for the rest of the weekend do remember that nitrox fills are not available at stoney at weekends).

Have you thought about what you are going to do on the saturday afternoon and the sunday? There are other workshops to be had - and other DIR divers who will take you around

Im going to the talk on the saturday night then to the show on the Sunday. Need to meet a few people there.

For the Saturday afternoon im up for anything. I will have a look around and what else is on. Maybe i can just tag along on a dive with some of you DIR people. I would like to see how the team work aspect of things work under water. Positions in the water ect.

Thanks

Jamie
