stage reg deployment?

So does all this mean as there are basically a few techniques on offer on this page for switching to the deco gas, that there is no standard way, it 'should' be done if you know what I mean, all the techniques advised here are acceptable? So it's O.K to start with the reg pressurised but the gas turned off, so water will not creep up the reg.

Yes. That IS the standard method. identify the bottle, release the hose, swop regs, and turn ON valve. All the rest is just detail.

Whenever the bottle is not being used, the valve is turned off, the reg restowed.
