Unfortunately it left a perfectly circular 3" bruise on my forehead. Which all the visitors to the stand stared at when talking to me.

| My take on DIR mask 1. Good fit is a bit of a given really 2. One piece lense can offer better visibility (no central obstruction) 3. Clear skirt allows better buddy tracking (I can flash my buddy to get his attention if behind/to the side even mid water, but not with black skirt) 4. Remove platic buckles replace with stainless wire directly into mask strap hole (no pin to come out or plastic to snap) 5. Replace rubber strap with neoprine and velcro slapstap that wont snap(stitch velcro when size confirmed) That to me would be an ideal mask for ease of use, good comunication and minimal failure possibilities Cheers CB |

| In the new year Halcyon (DIR Dive Systems) will be introducing a new 2-lense mask which is similar to what I have been using in modified ways but not identical as it allows for lower profile viewing, similar perhaps to the so-called frog masks. The skirts are black, as all those I use, to prevent distorted reflection and/or distraction and are ideal for underwater observers -- video or photo. Without using wire etc. all I do on my own masks is to drill (great thing these Dremmels) two holes on either side of the clips and run two separate bungies through them - a redundancy issue. The trick is to ensure you have the time to make sure the bungee stress is correct with your hood on. It need not be tight at all. The good part about dir dive systems is that it allows for room of choice depending on the type of diving activity one is involved in. Whether it needs a single lense or double, the latter for dedicated concentration and control, does not make one right or the other wrong. Best Izzy

| Noticed the last time I was in Decathlon they had Omersub Alien masks for £17. These are very low volume masks designed for spearfishing but they work well for diving and are usually a fair bit more expensive than that. Black skirt too.
