I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that Andy hasn't posted about that cos he doesn't think it is the case.

Sadly, that is correct. If it wasn't then it would be far easier being a moderator.

The ip address that burst disk used is the same as that used by Anthony, not only the posting ip address but the registering ip address too. The ip address has not been used by anyone else on our forum with over 4500 members. The address whois comes from Alachua, Florida. My opinion is that it was either someone from Halcyon, or close to Halcyon, who has released this 'press release'. Anthony protested his innocence. I banned burst disk and did not mention it again, as it is speculation. Burst disk has never posted anything other than that post, did not fill in any part of his profile and does not convey the least bit of credibility to me. There is nothing in any of my actions that anyone could accuse me of doing anything other than moderating YD in the same capacity as any other reasonable person, measuring the likely reactions of different members, and weighing up the benefits of following this whole thread. If you think otherwise, take my job, by all means. We get enough bad press, and very few people actually understand the time and effort we voluntarily donate to YD.

I did see the post on scubaboard and came to the same conclusion that it was the same guy, or bunch of guys. It is also very similar wording used in the Deco Stop post, yet again with different identities. In YD's case, it also stated something about Salvo's being 'hot' products. Question: Is YD here simply to act as a grandstand for your political games? I don't think so.

Any more boundless and ridiculous accusations? Seriously, you are making yourself (selves) look very silly.

Andy

I'll take the job - it's a peasants revolt !!!

Right, now I'm the mod, a few rule changes:

1) St**ke is unbanned as a word and can be used as an offensive term at all times

2) YBOD = good, OC = Bad

3) All mention of frog and back kicks are banned

4) Gledders and Al, if they want to remain members, have to repeat "I love bungeed wings, at least 100lbs for me" 5 times every morning and present video evidence

5) Deep air good, helium bad

6) For whatever dive, the plan is: "Jump in, swim around until bored or air is down to 50 bar then ascend. If buddy is lost, continue anyway"

What do you mean I don't have the job .....

On a slightly more serious note than my previous post, if this releae really did come from Halcyon, they should shut the f**k up until the case has finished. All Halcyon (and Salvo, if they respond) are making themselves look like unprofessional tw*ts.

Adny - you have my full support on your actions here. I *do* think that the situation is a perfectly reasonable target for discussion, in the same way that anything else similar would be, but a single post member causing trouble, and seeing that the same thing is posted elsewhere it does appear to be a concerted camapign by someone or some group of people. Very sad.

If 'true' is Anthony Rue, the I've been on list with him for years and he's always been a reasonable poster.

It's funny, beause although you think the diving community is close in this country, it seems equally as small worldwide.

Anyway, hello Anthony.

I agree with Lou, we don't have to join in with the name calling and all that bollox, but some people have a vested interest e.g. support of Salvo lights so it's only natural they want to know what's happening.

Bit of perspective re Barry Miller. On DIR II GI III holds a primary and states this is a "Barry Miller light". Not Halcyon, AUL or anything else. Implication to my mind being Barry was there first.
Where did And mention you were Burstdisk in any post Anthony ?? You are Anthony Rue, moderator of the Quest list? If so, as such, you above all should know how difficult a moderators lot is. Also, if you are burstdisk, you not only have no balls, but to my mind are endorsing Barry to the n`th degree. Given my experience of dealing with Halcyon as a network dealer , I`m inclined to lean Barry`s direction as I found Halcyon`s morals and loyalty left a lot to be desired.
I am not posting anonomously True, as you can see. IMHO Halcyon have become what they abhorred............ a diving industry fishing lure shop.

One possible explanation is that you and "burst disk" are different people working for the same firm?

Interesting little topic.

Personally I'm not convinced everything is as it's set out in the statement from JJ, since i've heard so many little rumours and things about this in the past.

Looking at the ScubaBoard link, there are comments like "Salvo owners will have to return their torches" and other such stupid things - that is of course all absolute rubbish, in the UK at least, and seems to be trying to destroy the Salvo brand. Until i've seen statements from both sides (or ideally a statement from a court as to the real situation) then i'll happily ignore it all... if I do ever find the money to get one myself.

David
