Seeing as you're new here, go post an introduction and read around a bit, all the info you might want can be found through the search function. If after searching you don't find what you're after then post away.
Welcome aboard mate, pop down an intro and say hi to everyone. Don't tell them about the bucket incident too early though

You really need to get over yourself mate.

Is there really any need to be so aggressive to such a benign post?

Cheers,

Dave Cooper.

Fuck me I thought this was the season of goodwill........

Agree with DecoDiver - no wonder DIR gets a bad name with that attitude. If the original poster is a troll, dont feed it....

IMHO, If an agency does totally dictate how a person dives then that is entirely up to them. The choice is whether an individual chooses to follow that defined approach.
I have no problem with an agency being very strict.
I personally went down the Padi then TDI route and I would no means say that their more flexible approach is better than GUE's, it's just different and suited me.

Hmmmm, not being GUE trained myself I cannot claim DIR status. GI III is not GUE trained either for that matter. I posted elsewhere about the scuba-uk "wars" between dir/everyone else and remember being quite aggressive and dogmatic myself having "discovered" DIR . I was trying to "out George" George in my posts. A lot of good information is available on this forum and was freely given to me in the early DIR days by JJ GI III Graham Davison Keith Bellamy John Grogan Andy Kerslake Trout et al.
I dont have/feel the need to defend DIR practices or attack any trolls/pops at DIR as I dont take it personal. As they say, love is in the eye of the beholder. Some people like Jaguars and wouldnt be seen dead in a Mercedes etc. As I posted elsewhere on this forum " bring on the trolls" ....they are harmless unless you feed them.
I cant see why ppl get their knickers in a twist for whatever reason on these forums. The only time DIR is applied in my life is when I`m diving. So whoever is diving with me is probably
a. Trained by me
b. Definitely on the same page as me
c. Switched on enough to follow dive plan to the letter.
The usual scenario is a newbie posts, argues, has a pop, questions, argues ,has another pop or 4, then the penny drops. Trolls on the other hand make enjoyable reading. We were guilty ourselves of trolling on scuba-uk, at least I was and I have to say .........IT WAS FUN
Everyone take a chill pill.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to all especially TROLLS

There are two types of diver.

Those that learn, go diving and when they get to the point where they
feel they've outgrown agency, club, clique, local sites, type of gas etc.
they look for new pastures.

Got a lot of respect for these guys & gals as its the dives that have dictated
their diving career.

Then you have the other type.

They read books, go onto the internet and listen to too many mates saying
XYZ is great. Heaven forbid they actually get wet and do some real dives.

So PADI, BSAC, TDI, DIR/GUE, who cares? All that matters is seperating
which ones do it and which ones talk about doing it.
