Hi,

There are currently two GUE instructors in the UK. Myself, and Andy Kerslake.

I run approximatley 1 DIRF per month, and Andy does the same. Tech 1 can only be done with Andy - he's on this board, so you should be able to track him down.

Fundamentals is undergoing a revamp at the moment, and new students are going onto the new 4-day class. Contact either of us for class avaliability and costs.

Cheers,

Rich

Out of interest, Rich - what is the new 4-day fundies course going to cost? I know the old 2-day course cost £250 so is the new course going to be nearer the £400 mark?!

The old course went up to £300 as of 1st Jan. I'm currently kicking around some ideas on how we're going to structure the new course, but am expecting somewhere around the £400 mark in the first instance.

remember to charge StephenT £1,000 when he comes for training ;-)

thanks for the pricing though, seems reasonable enough to me, on a par with tdi adv nitrox + deco procs for 4 days, which I was considering as another possible course of training

I'm not quite in a position yet to be taking these courses, but was looking at possibilities for the mid-term

rgrds

Except that the TDI courses actually qualify you to do more with your diving, DIRF just prepares you for further GUE courses. When you pass DIRF, you can still only do the diving you were qualified to do before. I'll be using DIRF as a platform to improve my skills, and as a taster for Tech 1, to see if that's where I want to go with my diving. I've already done TDI Adv. Nitrox + Deco Procs., and I'll be doing TDI Trimix later this year.

Well, yes its true. DIRF qualifies you for nothing.

Except that is, nitrox, rescue skills, and access to the rest of the GUE curriculum.

I wasn't aware of this (apart from the rest of the GUE curriculum, but I mentioned that ), is it a recent thing? What do you mean, exactly, by nitrox and rescue skills? My understanding that the course was there to hone people's skills ready for further training with GUE.

AIUI, the Nitrox and Rescue skills are being added to F to bring students into line with those who do the GUE Open Water course, where Nitrox will be used from day 1.

HTH, if I've got it right
