Have you considered the rather fine range of 'Salvo' umbilical torches?

I have a Proteus 3, and it's perfectly fine for UK diving!

Hi Taza,

I like the 10W Proteus 3 as a small, relatively inexpensive primary light. It's fine for UK wreck diving. It will start to struggle in caves or for signalling in bright shallow water.

Cheers,

Rich

Apparently the pain of purchase subsides just in time for you to buy something new

Well worth getting a good/very good primary if it lasts your diving well. Rich W's Explorer 14 looks to have been through more than a few scrapes but is a great bit of kit.

Sorry Taza, I do appreciate that £340 odd quid for a light is a lot of money. It easy to forget that sometimes

I had a look round for other "umbilical" primary lighing systems, looking at companies like Fami, Greenforce, hoping (and expecting) to find lower prices than this. I was unable to do so (http://www.divingdirectshop.co.uk/ has both Fami and Greenforce, and http://www.divingniknaks.com/ carries the main competition to Halcyon), and you are into the "several hundered pounds" bracket.

As ever, if you want to try one of these Halcyon lights out, and see if you thing they're worth the expense, I'd be more than happy to help, with no obligation, of course.

Or you could buy Bobs most excellent light

Cheers,

Rich
