| OK I'm not DIR but last week we have been diving with both the salvo 21w(thanks Phil) and the new solus 500 i am very impressed with the solus as it is near indestructible and can be controlled from the head so no contortionist tricks to turn it on! the beam focus is excellent compared to other LED torches but it's not as good as the salvo the light from the salvo is brighter and penetrates much better and because you can change the focus is more suited for more environments. we have had a problem with the solus battery flooding so it will be going back, this was worrying as it was still fizzing and spitting water and nasty battery juice 24hrs later, i thought it was going to go pop at one point in the night but it managed to pressure release through the cable gland... even after this problem i still believe the solus is a first class torch and i wait to see what SSP have to say about the problem when my buddy gets the torch back. kindest regards john routley

| If you want your old-stylee 21W Salvo to produce a really nice tight focussable beam without any annoying wobbles in it then look at getting the EKPP reflector from divingniknaks : Salvo HID Torches, Other Torch Items I was using mine in Stoney in appalling viz last week with Bantam who has an identical Salvo with the original head on it. The beam from the EKPP was noticably more even and, dare I say it without Bantam throwing his toys at me, noticably brighter too as it seemed to be much more evenly focused. The only downside is that the head is marginally bigger but not so that you really notice it at all. The EKPP head also comes with a secondary grub screw on the other side to the focus lock so even if you unscrew the focus lock screw too far, the head can't fall off the ballast. This should be a standard thing on normal Salvo heads, if they haven't already changed it. And yes we had a light sabre fight. In the "Blair Witch" bit at the bottom of the ramp. I'm sure when you swim into that area it pops you out at in a completely different bit of the Cove. Anyone want a 2nd hand Goodman handle-less original relector? £30.
