Don't know if this has been posted before but there's a very interesting Cave-1 video that has recently appeared on Youtube...

This was not a GUE course. Ralph Wilhelm is not a GUE instructor, and the dives depicted are not in any way Cave 1 dives.

Son, you're going to have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming aircrew. You can't do both.

The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no limits.

Sorry Jason, but l don't see why you've added a clip of a newish single tank diver. Is it just to make the divers in the first clip seem more 'cool' :frown

Styles of diving should stand up on there own without critising others. This is like going back three or four years.

As GLOC said, I did wonder as they were all carrying deco bottles (one of them very badly, I might add). Having done a little bit of research, it seems that Ralph is actually an instructor for PATD (Professional Association for Technical Diving) so you're right - it wasn't a 'Cave-1' course in the GUE sense of the word. That said, it still made an interesting video...

Far from it, Howard. If anything, I assumed the guy in the video was actually taking the p*ss - I don't think it was meant to be serious. If that's not the case then I agree - videoing the poor guy was not on as we all have to start somewhere! Take the piss out of some old geezer in a multicoloured drysuit by all means (that sort are fair game, if you ask me) but leave the newbies alone...

BTW - I'm surprised you'd accuse me of 'making DIR divers look cool' - trust me, I'm no fan of 'fundamentalists' either (I thought you would have sussed that out on Friday). If anything, it was this sort of elitism that turned me off being a fully paid up member of the GUE club long ago...

The Dude's busted - he is in fact a Tech3, Cave3, RB2 GUE Instructor mentor ninja darklord. He's deep undercover passing amongst the strokily equipped and poor of trim. Some time in January he will truly reveal himself to you all in a day of judgement that will make the book of Revelation look like the opening of a new Starbucks.

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse will arrive towing The Dude's caravan, mattresses will burn and there will be much wailing and nashing of teeth. Those found wanting will be condemned to spend eternity forever locked in a never ending Chasey deco thread. The day of judgement is coming people - will you be found wanting?

(On a slightly more serious note - it does really feel like we've moved on from all the old nonsense a bit this year doesn't it? Everyone's sharing the knowledge around and the wars seem to have died down a lot to just a bit of good natured ribbing on shared boats. Long may it stay that way. I've learnt a hell of a lot this year and it hasn't just been from DIR divers and instructors. We're all the better for it being this way?)
