regarding your regulator, maybe you just need to change the angle that the hose runs at? ideally the one to your primary regulator should run horizontally over your shoulder (horizontally as you stand on the ground!) so that pulling on your mouth is minimised. if you can get this the length of the hose is less of a big deal as it will tend towards being neutral-ish in the water. Apeks DS4s/DSTs style 1st stages where the ports sprout hoses horizontally (when fitted to a single tank) are good for this, i'm less impressed by the ones which sprout hoses vertically. i use a long hose/donate primary reg. i've a surplus 2m hose if your interested, though i think for most open water diving 1.5m is a better length. any hooo, lots of opinions DIR! keep an open mind and cherry pick bits if you find things you like! al |

| First thing in the morning means we'll probably kick off the surface stuff at 0930 once everyone has had time to get through the queue and get themselves a coffee. The whole two days is planned out in terms of surface sessions and dives. This includes video debrief on the saturday evening. If you are not diving, then you will still hopefully get a lot out of the day if you can stay for the surface stuff on the saturday. This will include the safety briefing, how the weekend will be conducted, who is who, what DIR is all about, kit configuration, buoyancy advice, How we manage gas, How we conduct predive checks, Light signals, team work and communication. the weekend will give people a real insight into what all the fuss is about, as a large amount of topics will be covered. However, it is also worth nothing that whilst it will be a very busy weekend, and we are covering a lot, we are covering each topic only with enough depth so that people understand why we do it and how it helps us. It will not replace training from a professional instructor, and none of the topics will be done in so much detail that people then know enough to go get themselves hurt, or that a DIr instructor then has to undo poor work on our part.
