Question DIR? Eh?

Nope, not thinking of going down the route. Just curious.

Is there a post/thread/website or something to give a precis of the basics of what DIR is all about and why?

Having met some of you on Saturday it does intrigue me, but haven't really understood the concept. And then I read the thread about the length of hoses (yes I said HOSES), and it fascinated me, mainly because my second stage hose is about 2 inches too long (not often you hear a girl say that! ) and I have to fight to keep the reg in my mouth. Being just a novice diver it's interesting to hear other opinions and hopefully get to "Doing it right"!!!!????

Thanks

Son, you're going to have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming aircrew. You can't do both.

The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no limits.

I'm sure one of the Chimps will be along soon, but they're running a DIR curious weekend at Vobster in August. May be worth seeing if they have any places left?

See... as if by magic!

Julie,

besides reading through this sub forum - you could either beg/borrow/steal/buy a copy of : the fundamentals book , come along to a session that is being held (the current two are full I believe) or simply go along to vobster for some dives and talk diving.

Experience DIR - Weekend 11/12 August 2007 - Vobster

is the thread which Gav is talking about. The gig is full at the moment but I will check with everyone to make sure they are coming. If you are interested put your name on the reserve list and I will get back to you soonest.

Regards

You trying to scare me!!!

I'll read the links that Gloc has given. I really just wanted an insight to the whole ethos of DIR. Hear it mentioned so often that thought it was about time I understood (or at least pretended to understand) what was being discussed!

Thanks Gloc

Imagine diving if the Hitler Youth organised it and you won't be far wrong. Except with more stylish uniforms.

Or they could do it for nothing!

Hogen....I have the fundamentals book (I think, not sure if I ebayed it) - PM me your address and I'll post it to you....just send it to the return address when you are finished reading it.

By the way - I am not a DIR diver...I just use some of the concepts because they work for me and make sense - some don't IMHO (work for ME that is)....
