| Yes Fi, that's the knot I always use, although I pass the rope around the valves/first stages and tie it onto the rail. One big advantage, if you leave a long enough loose end is that you can reach behind and pull on the rope to undo it if you forget to do so before getting into your harness |

| Having taken a second look at Clare's knot, it's not the one I use but very similar. Mine's just a clove hitch with a bight for a release and is a bit less complicated. I might post up some pictures if anyone's the least bit interested This only works with rope though. I usually carry a length of rope around in my dive kit for those occasions when I get on a boat and am offered lengths of bungy to tied my gear up with. What's all that about?
