I am off to malta the week after my fundies course in april and was wondering if any one knows of a dir frendly dive operator over there

Hi Pete

Good to meet you at the gig.

I'd try here .... I sat next to one of the owners I think at the DIR gig in October ... he certainly was DIR friendly and you'll notice the photos on the website are taken by a well known fella.

I have never dived from that centre so can't vouch for it in any other way, though.

Try Star Fish. Misha and Galina are an increadible couple. They have a nice family run dive center.

Oxygene in Sliema i'd have thought a fair bet. Certainly last year at least 2 of the staff were GUE qualified and even the lead TDI instructor liked his kit configured that way etc.

Pete, drop John Kendall a PM he is running courses in Malta so presumably uses a GUE friendly base for kit and gas.

Yup, I've got some GUE fundamentals courses running in Malta this year. I am using TecDeepBlue ( Tec Deep Blue specialists in technical and wreck diving in Malta )

I'm also just setting up a Malta trip for the summer sometime if anyone is interested.

I have been to Malta a number of times...would strongly recommend Dive Wise...place is ran by Alan & Viv Whitehouse...PADI CD and TDI Instructor - they used to own an run a school near Manchester...

I'm not DIR, so can't comment on that side, however I have dived tech with TecDeepBlue, they run a really good operation, I'd certainly recommend them.

Try Corsair Diving Centre in Bugibba - Corsair Diving Centre Malta, Scuba Diving Malta, Holidays in Malta Gozo Comino, PADI diving. They do recreational diving from a modern, purpose built dive centre in Bugibba - and they're PADI 5 star.

I can highly recommend Melita, Director of Diving, and Kevin. Melita has been teaching my son since he was 14 years old. He's now an 18 year old Divemaster, thanks to Melita's great tuition, and he wouldn't go to anyone else in Malta. In fact he intends taking the Assistant Instructor course with them. They're fun, safe - which was important to me of course - and they also have excellent equipment (which incidentlaly is all new this year).
