Isn't that going to have a bigg effect on hydrodynamics and how it trims in the water? Whole lot of material missing out of the front end, and a channel for fast moving water to travel through? I'd rather just have a neat handle that folds into the top of the unit without affecting it like that. Seems like an odd modification on paper, maybe it's very different in the real world.

I thought out of the water considerations were irrelevant, like boots?

I would have thought this falls into the same category?
