Davie - calm down. Mine's tied with one contiuous loop but with an additional knot which stops it coming off it it breaks at the tie. Hard to explain but then I'm seeing you Friday (in case you'd forgotten ) .

A figure 8 knot is the right thing to stop a line running through a hoop or hole. It wont ever undo under tension.

The bungee goes up from the back, through the outer holes and back down through the inner holes. The ends are then tied together.

For a more professional finish, just use a fisherman's knot in place of the zip-ties and the bungee will lie in a channel between the two inner holes.

EDIT: Just spotted that he uses just one length of bungee crossed at the back, which is all well and good, but if the bungee breaks you could lose the computer/timer. So I'd recommend using two lengths (one either side) for redundancy. To be fair, he refers to this in the text.

The photo for the Suunto mount shows two bungees but with stopper knots.

I just lifted all that, lock stock and barrel from Tobins own site

Mine are fine with a seperate loop and simple knots each corner, melt the bungee with a lighter to stop it fraying.

But then mine don't actually get wet

Just tie them on with some cable ties, some bright string and some gaffer tape - the more you give a GUE instructor to get their teeth into the happier they'll be
