Hi All,

I did some videoing last week using a very nifty little HD camera Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD1. The camera and the housing are really tiny so it's works really well for shallow video (i.e. 45m housing, no lights).

Anyway I got some nice video of some demo's from Clare while she was teaching (Student videos have all been deleted). The vis at Vobster was stunning so they are quite nice quality.

Very nice.

Al, is it normal for you guys to have to put the SMB and spool together before deploying it or is that part of the demo.

I keep an SMB and spool together in my pocket ready to go.

During DIR-F it's done to "task load" you, so you forget about bouyancy and awareness and stuff

Normally built for real dives, but its worth knowing you can do it. If you have a really big bag it might be in the storage pack on the backplate so you'd have to attach it to a spool before sending it up. Hence you make sure that people can do it.

It does create some task loading too but that's a bonus not the reason

Don't worry - they have since recovered

The chap I told off during the SMB demo for holding on to the platform is still undergoing therapy though I hear.

Amazing viz in Vobster at the weekend and a great bunch of students - all from YD I think. Four courses in five weeks - time to go diving for fun now I think.
