It isn't even that. IIUIC, it is that the DIR system means that the equipment you dive with renders the skills and drills unachievable.

that is my understanding, and of course, I don't dive that style, ahve not done fundies or anything. It is simply my reading and what i understand of the system.

And there lies the problem, if you can't see past the fact that nondirers are responding to a provocative thread in this 'open to all' forum then we have a no chance of breaking down barriers.
Are suggesting that only dir followers are allowed to post in here in some kind of quasi apartheid? if so then it's a natural progression that nondirers shouldn't be allowed to post in 'open' forum.

Personally I think that would destroy the forum as we know it

I hope I'm not in your openly antidir group because if I am you have misjudged me, I am not and have never been antidir, what I have always been, and will be is anti the kind of arrogant disrespectful person that it sometimes attracts, New, enthusiastic and naive is no excuse for provocative posting IMO dir or otherwise.

Rather than trying to blame the reaction on others, you would be better off trying to educate young Ben on forum etiquette.
