Are suggesting that only dir followers are allowed to post in here in some kind of quasi apartheid? if so then it's a natural progression that nondirers shouldn't be allowed to post in 'open' forum.

Personally I think that would destroy the forum as we know it

I hope I'm not in your openly antidir group because if I am you have misjudged me, I am not and have never been antidir, what I have always been, and will be is anti the kind of arrogant disrespectful person that it sometimes attracts, New, enthusiastic and naive is no excuse for provocative posting IMO dir or otherwise.

Rather than trying to blame the reaction on others, you would be better off trying to educate young Ben on forum etiquette.

Safe diving,
Steve
I would like to echo this. Loads now think I'm 'anti DIR' and I'm not.
Over the years I have considered and employed many sensible and sound techniques of diving that DIR have absorbed into their methodology. If I think it's good idea, I try it and if it works for me then great. I am a safer diver diving the way that works for me

What I object to is the same as Steve has said above. I do not respond to arrogant, disrespectful individuals that regard me with disdain because I think for myself and will not blindly tow the line of an institutionalised ethos.
I will stress that I am very fond of a number of divers who chose to dive under the 'heading' of DIR but those who really believe they are "Doing it Right" while anyone not trained under GUE are doing it wrong deserve to have their heads flushed down the toilet while they learn some respect for the beautiful differences in the human race

A few years back I was extremely interested in the GUE DIR_F. On enquiring I was swooped on like a virgin accidentally walking into a sacrificial temple filled with drooling followers looking for fresh meat. Heaven forbid I should actually be allowed to gather information and decide for myself! So, this virgin walked out and chose who was gonna ruin her for herself. Okay, that analogy could go anywhere but then, I'm only having a laugh

To be fair to Ben (not something I often even consider doing) I am struggling to find anything provocotive in his original post. His subsequent posts (although fairly mad) are also fairly benign.

Yes he's excited by his fundies training and the prospect of further training within GUE but he certainly isn't the arrogant flag waving automaton that people percieve him to be.

He's just a bit of a bell-end

Son, you're going to have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming aircrew. You can't do both.

The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no limits.

Now that is very naughty quoting out of context like that.
The 1st part being about a methodology and the 2nd being about people's attitudes.

Now, where's the nearest toilet ..................

From what I've read I think that's almost true - but specifically for the RB80, I don't think you can just substitute "rebreather" for RB80 and come to that conclusion.

For instance I understand there's still a long hose with an RB80, and you also have manifolded twins. So you can still do the S-drills (long hose deployment), valve drills, etc.

This isn't the case for something like a YBOD, so how would a YBOD diver on a fundies course do valve drills or OOG scenarios?

Just accept that fundies is targeted as an OC course

I don't think that was quoting out of context. It all came from the same post. you began the post with "I'm not Anti DIR" and then continued in the next paragraph to isinuate that DIR divers don't think for thsemselves and blindly follow an institutionalised ethos.
