Perhaps Mal it's because some people who might be curious about GUE/DIR, people who might - just might - one day have decided to go down this route, like to drop into the sub-forum to see what's happening?

Then they come across offensive, naive troublemakers who give the agency a bad name and who reinforce negative stereotypes and they get put off... and don't feel like bothering with this route any more.

Just my non-DIR/GUE 2p.

Mal maybe its the sanctimonious BS of 'all the gear and no idea' that winds people up. I'm not anti-DIR they are anti-me, i see alot of sense in the system but it idiots running there mouths of about how its the best thing since sliced bread, when its actually no fecking different to anything any of the other agencies teach, its just has stricter pass/fail criteria, which IMO is no bad thing. There is a place on the web for venting of the DIR wrath with lots of other like minded people, were the reception will be warm and welcoming but generally its not here.

anyway lets face it. In 5 years or so all the DIR mob will be eating a large slice of humble pie and groveling to the CCR brigade cos no matter how much they wail and nash their collective teeth, the future is coming and the future is quiet.

Fair enough ... it's why I think the Discover DIR days are a much better way for people who are really DIR Curious. In real life people are how they really are [1], rather than how people would like them to be

I don't think they are. Certainly the beings from another planet i have met have been nothing but helpful. They may be sarcastic barstewards, and can rip the pi** with the best of us, but I don't think they are anti-anyone. Until they have met someone and decide for themselves.
