Presumably as part of a planned spidge recovery? Then I would suspect the DIR answer would be to take an additional cylinder of standard "lifting gas" [1] for that express purpose.

Mal

[1] also good for filling tyres

If I planned to send up a serious lift bag I'd take a seperate stage bottle with means of inflating (as we did on the sailing ship project last year) If it was unplanned I'd use my deco gas reg. That way if it freeflowed it could be shut off.

Can the Halcyon Lift Bags be filled via a second stage? I thought they were closed-circuit, like the DSMBs.

As a matter of interest, how many times have you had to use it in anger due to a backgas reg or suit inflation bottle failure?

Just checked: apparently the 60lb is semi-closed but the others can only be filled with an LP hose.

They all look shit though; none of them have a gaffing loop.

Mal
in truth mal never , thats not to say that i havnt done it 5 or 6 times to try it see how long it takes me.
i was told about it many years ago and thought it would be a great idea to have such a redundant system should it be needed! the low pressure hose also has a little rubber inflator gun on a small piece of bungee attached to it should it be needed to fill a smb or a lift bag although i use my exhaust gasses to fill smb,s usualy !

its like many redundant systems in diving mal ! their will be things u carry with you that u may never use but you still carry it !

Smit Tak?????? I have interchangeable drysuti and bc yes, had to change the commercial fitting on my drysuit.....

I thought the worry of putting 80% through my drysuit fitting, not that major! I don't really know why I would need the other inflator (hose) just for some reason seems to make sense and that sounds stupid cos have no reason why
