| DIR: Discuss Back up inflator. in the Technical and Specialist Diving Forums forums: Is there any pluses to putting an inflator on my stage bottle???? Just incase I have a failure on one ... |

| your wing inflate and dry suit inflate should be on separate 1st stages to avoid this problem. It could be seen as an unnecesary fail point on the stage cylinder or just a bit messy.

| I guess you mean inflator hose ? then why not but you always have either your wing inflate or drysuit available as you run them off different 1st stages anyway. ( DOH see above) Edit .... Just noticed its the DIR forum so I would say no

| With a twinset you already have two inflators. Your wing and drysuit should ideally be interchangeable. As you run these off separate posts I don't see any added value in having one on a stage as well.....and certainly wouldn't want to be putting 50 - 80% O2 into a non 02 serviced valve! My typing needs to speed up!!!! |

In the ocean, your option is to just ascend and if you needed to put any gas in your wing then I'd do that orally rather than try to plumb in my deco gas .... I'd rather save that for breathing In a cave where an exit requires a descent before an ascent then you either have to sweat it out in the drysuit or get a buddy to share their inflation gas. Overall the small risk of needing it is outweighed by the possible problems of fitting one. Maintaining "swappability" between your wing inflator and suit inflator is a good idea though and gives some additional options. HTH Mal |

| More failure points ?

I think it's more a case again of they are not needed, given there are alternative solutions to the problems they solve, without introducing additional complexities. HTH Mal |

| What about filling lift bags? I don't mean putting a bit of gas in a DSMB, which I do from my airgon bottle, but sending up a serious liftbag that would empty an argon bottle before being anything like filled? |

| I have today sold my OMS 94lbs dual bladder wing and have replaced it with a Halcyon Evolve. This was due to the 94lbs being wholly uneccessary and the realisation that if I am going to be doing deco dives whether here or abroad I will probably wear my dry suit with the layers underneath to suit.
