What will DIR be in 2023?

Here is a question I have been pondering recently?

The DIR rig is well known and fairly tightly specified and is a good solution to the gear we have available today. Do you think that, as technology and equipment evolve, that it will be able to develop, or will there be too much inertia, and if so, will this be for good or for ill?

What do you think of the ability of DIR or GUE to stay current/efficient say in 10-15 years' time? Will DIR be an anachronism?

I would be interested in your thoughts.

How about this: What will DIR be in 2023?

Because that is 15 years from now!

Why 15 years? No particular reason: longer than 10, less than 15

DIR will mean Dinosaurs in rebreathers

The rest of us will have a membrane osmosis system that draws O2 from the water and reoxygenates a breathing fluid. No depth limits no deco and no limit to bottom time.

Look at my signature it's the future

Reckon in 15 years DIR will be no-more.

With nowhere else to put all our rubbish, all the available quarries will be
    turned into landfills

I agree, and it's got nothing to do with cost, it's just a better idea.

It will be sat on the sofa wearing a ccr, whilst watching TV, due to sea level rising.
