| Imported post <font color='#0000FF'>Hi One SPG on the left post, ideally brass, glass front, no boot on 24" hose, with a stainless steel Boltsnap tied on to attach to left hip DRing. Two timekeeping devices, one depth gauge. (I have a Vytec in gauge on right wrist, Suunto Dive Timer on left wrist, some people replace straps with bungee.) Others will use dive timer, wristwatch combination. If your depth gauge fails, buddy has one. For me it was cheaper to buy a £60 dive timer and get both functions rather than a dive watch (Although I would like a dive watch to time that last 1 mtr cos both timers turn themselves off!) Compass is Suunto, replace strap with bungee and goes on left wrist. DIR does not use Dive Computers as such preferring to understand how deco works and plan your dive rather than fly your computer The whole point is to have the info readily available and not to have bulky gauges. | Oh no... I fear the computer/non-computer debate coming on... Actually, I agree with WL on this. I have depth guage / bottom timer on right wrist and compass on left. I actually use an older Oceanic computer on for my depth guage / timer but since taking the DIRF course, find that I never look at anything on the computer other than that. It wasn't a conscious decision, it just evolved that way. I also have changed the straps to bungees. Makes it easier to put on when wearing a drysuit. Tony

| Imported post Vyper in gauge mode on right arm, Compass and dive watch on left arm, I use shockcord for both instruments as it's a doddle to put on/off, it also allows me to shift them about into the most comfortable position for reading during the dive. |

| Imported post When it comes to getting instruments on the wrist easily, of course, a wrist unit is by far the best way to do it http://diveweb.oneandoneis2.com/wrist.htm

| Imported post Shreeks in horror and runs away.... What I like about the way mine are bungied separately is that they are infinitely adjustable, move the Vyper this way slightly for better reading, move the compass down and onto the back of my hand if I'm needing precise directional information (it's loads easier to keep in line this way) and then slide it back onto my left forearm when not needed or for just general bearings. |

| Imported post Why have the main on your right? I have never understood this, it seems counter intuitive to me. Is it because you raise your inflator hose on the wing to dump? I wear my computer on my left because it then stays still and in view whilst ascending as i hold my reel with my left hand and wind with the right. Lou

It still swivels around my wrist if I want it to, eg top of arm during dive then under arm when ascnding as it's easier to see.. Of course, it shouldn't be forgotten that simplicity in kitting up is a priority for my dive gear owing to that whole seasickness thing...
