| Imported post Ok .. I thought that Beaver tails were a no no .... What if i am in a wetsuit without thigh pockets??? it wont all fit n my waist band pocket...?? |

| Imported post The Reel is carried on the butt D-ring (can be used for DSMB if required) Spool in a thigh pocket (clipped off) Mask in a thigh pocket (clipped off) DSMB either in the backplate pocket if you have one or in the thigh cargo pocket if you don't. Two backup torches are only required if you intend to enter an overhead environment otherwise one is sufficient. It would appear that you are trying to take too much with you Craig... four bags is rather excessive dontcha think Remember that the Hogarthian system is primarily based on minimalism.. i.e. only take what you need for that particular dive so for example if you were diving a shallow open water NDL dive then you would not need a yellow emergency DSMB and your buddy's DSMB is your backup DSMB etc etc.. |

| Imported post A wetsuit with no pockets? Either ADD pockets to the suit (bit of stitching of gluing) or get some thigh-pockets that hang off the waistband and are strapped to the leg as well..

| Imported post <font color='#0000FF'>1. spare mask, in left hand bellows pocket clipped to bungee loop with a double ender 2. Reel , Spare reel, usually butt DRing, can be attached to stages, don't usually have a spare but spools are easier to store in left hand bellows pocket again on the bungee loop with double ender 3. SMB, spare SMB and co2 yellow SMB, in backplate pouch, with spare in pocket (In the UK I think they put it in the right pocket) Don't need three SMB's and the yellow jobby is only for signalling lost deco gas. My smb has a little pocket to place a note on it. 4. goody bag, leave in dive bag 5. Liftbag leave in dive bag or use as spare DSMB 6. buddy line, leave in dive bag, I can't think of anything worse than being tethered to your buddy and the screwups that could cause. In low vis use touch contact 7. backup torch, depends on the torch but on the harness clipped to a Dring and secured with innertube loop. 8. Epirb. Again depends on size of Epirb but could place in right hand pocket. I wear a wetsuit on holiday with BP, harness and pioneer wing. I had bellows pockets put on by Othree. Excellent quality and excellent service. Wouldn't be without them now. Andy |

Tear-jerking, it really was. Personally, I'd never put a butt D-ring on, as I have to sit down and do a backward roll of the RHIB, and it'd make my eyes water having my large McMahon reel clipped there

Reel placement is less clear than other equipment stuff as they are bulky and are usually intended to be used, its only for ascent and descent that storage becomes necessary. I'd prefer to clip it to my stage bottle cord, but if I don't have a stage bottle then hip Dring I suppose but its not preferred. Andy |

| Imported post <font color='#0000FF'>Hello all, Many times I think that DIR is more oriented to a dry suit diver than a wet suit diver. As a drysuit have a lot to do with a DIR config, such as using it as redundant wing in case of problem when a wet suit diver has to do all sorts of things like dropping a light , using back cylinders of aluminuim. Also normally on a wet suit you don't have tight pockets and normally you don;t find any where on the web on such a set up (or nearly). An other question, why DIR attaches argon cylinder for wreck diving to side of twinset instead of at back between twinset ? Regards Pierre

As for the buddy line and the EPIRB - not DIR. Leave them at home! As for reel placement and the butt d-ring.....The butt d-ring is supposed to be for towing a short body scooter, not something that we do regularly. However, I find it a handy place for stowing a primary reel, when wreck diving or cave diving. I tend to clip it to the left d-ring on the boat (to save sitting on it) and move it to the butt d-ring at the bubble check. |
