| Imported post <font color='#000080'>Hi I have used the aqualung SPG's and they seem OK. They are brass. Take the rubber boot thing off. 24" is the standard length and a largish stainless steel boltsnap to tie it to. In the south Underwater explorers and in the North Capernwray have what you need. | Imported post I think it is because it hides any corrosion or wear at the end of the hose. Daz

| Imported post I use these little suunto gauges that have a boot that covers only the head of the gauge, as it were. What's the DIR view on them? Surely I've got the best of all worlds - the gauge is protected and I can still see the swivel/it's not trapping water? |

| Imported post Ta Does that happen then? Mine's ancient and i just had a look, no sign of rust at all. Just about to get its 3rd hose though (that i know of). Dive Safe Paul

| Imported post <font color='#000080'>i recently removed the rubber boot from my 10+ year old SPG and it's green! now the boots gone a small trickle of bubbles comes out of it which was not noticeable before. I'll never cover my sPG again (and i will buy a new one at the show on a short hose for attaching to my harness) I'll attach a piccy tommorow of the SPG when it's dry Paul

| Imported post DIR insists on a metal SPG, so a rubber boot can trap salt against the metal and cause corrosion. If you're using a plastic SPG then corrosion is a non-issue, so I wouldn't worry about it

| Imported post <font color='#000080'>Hi Use the plastic ones for stage bottles as they are lighter. Still take the rubber boot off though as it falls into the 'if you don't need it, don't take it' hogarthian type idea. Andy |
