| Imported post On my Fundies course, Andy K set up the backplates for us, and I didn't find it too tight at all. Then again, I had never used one before so I had nothing to compare it too. I find the easiest way to get out is to slide one arm hand-first back through the shoulder strap - I can do this with a compass and a computer on my arm. Yet again, Dom's website illustrates this, but it's not currently working. Mark, I'm interested in Kevin Gurr's story, and also his one about someone nearly strangling themselves with a wrapped long hose (read that in a quote somewhere) - do you have a link to it? cheers r

I've lost some of the stuff I did over the last couple of days, but it's been recovered. You should be able to access it again now..

| Imported post just as well - I think everyone uses it as a reference! your backplate looks very low in the side photo - is that how you normally have it? r

| Imported post Pretty near - heretic that I am, I actually have my harness fairly slack. It's not as bad as it looks - it rides up in the water, it only sits that low when standing around pre-dive. I sometimes suspect that height plays a part too - when I have the base of the backplate at the right height, it's a few inches lower than a certain school of thought would say it should be. But when it's set to that height, it's too far above my waist, and becomes hideously uncomfortable..

| Imported post Whats with this setting it up malarky. Attach cylinder(s) to wing via cam bands, pretty obvious where they go. Attach wing to body via straps. Stand up, secure straps/harness, jump in water. What am I missing? Seriously, what's to setup. Matt |

| Imported post Tried webbing your own harness Matt? Mine looked and felt like a dog's dinner at first.......remember that the shoulder strap lengths need deciding on (there's no adjustment on the fly as they are secured by weight retainers behind the b/p) and the position of buckles and d-rings to sort out. It took me a good hour or so to set up dry. Lou

| Imported post Coincidentally, I tried to adjust my harness underwater yesterday. No dice - it didn't want to know. Take it apart and try again later. Whether I'd have a better chance with my steel plate I don't know, but the alu one wouldn't budge.

This doesn't get the strap all the way off, but it does give you more room to put your hand and then your arm through the gap, which shrugs the strap off all the way. It's not easy with a snug-fitting harness, you have to push a bit, but once you get the hang of it it's quick and dirty! r
