| Imported post If I remember my biology right, the nose is there to warm and moisten air going into the lungs. Does an FFM make things easier in this department? Yup, it would be nice to suck up that snot... |

| Imported post I only wanted one so i don't have to stop talking even underwater. And having a huge snoz doesn't help with masks anyway. |

I still mainly breath through my mouth when diving with my FFM as I find this the most comfortable. If I reduced the breathing resistance on the reg so I have positive flow then it is very easy to breath through the nose BUT I am too mean to waste gas (and bottom time) in this fashion. Whether this is down to years of using the "normal set up" to start with, or exertion I don't know. I suspect

| Oh FFS! DOUG, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooo! I can't wear ear plugs under water...... I'm looking forward to breathing through the nose in the FFM - we need to talk about positive pressure Finless - how do you set it + or minus? |

One "feature" (ie problem) with Ocean Reef is that the lower you put your head the more prone to a freeflow you are (I don't know if this affects other FFMs). It was sort of admitted as a problem by Ocean Reef (IMO) as they introduced an exhaust valve for the mask which can be closed off all together and thus preventing the problem from occurring. However, this feature of the freeflow tendancy is quite usefull - if I want more gas I just lower my head down (like when looking back under your body to check on an Indian File Buddy). Nothing too drastic, unlike the early days when it could lift my eyelids of the eyeball

| Imported post I keep seeing the acronym for this thread and thinking it's about a really fast DPV - one that goes "Ffm!" throuigh the water

It could possibly be the noise made by a very happy and contented FFM diver humming to themselves as they smuggly fin past safe from cold and bugs and other nasty things. Oh, unless you think Ffm means "f'in fast motherf'ker" - now I'm shocked at you.
