<font color='#000F22'>For my Hid Cannister I use a pony quick release mechanisum off my wing,it's tucked in neatly behind my left wing &amp; the hid comes over the shoulder through the webbing for wing inflate &amp; clip off on chest.

Probably not the cheapest method but it's safe and doesn't move about, or affect my profile. It even provides some compensation when I've got a side mount on the other side.

You should just shorten the webbing loop a little in that case. The loop only needs to be wide enough for the waist band to pass through. I use a Pro 6 like this and the buckle holds the canister in place perfectly.

Mark.

I'me trying a new contraption on my CD HID light canister. I used to hold the canister in the pouch provided with it which had a webbing loop at the back. The problem was that the loop was way too big and a plastic retainer or buckle would go through it. I have since removed the pouch, put two rings of inner tubing 5 cm apart on the cylinder, one jubilee clip on each ring, and two cable ties looped inside the 2 jubilee clips. the harness webbing goes through the first tie clip loop, then onto a plastic retainer, then through the second tie clip loop. It is held securely in place, but if I absolutely had to ditch it I could cut the tie clips or pull hard to release it.

Work in progress..

Rupert

To stop the cannister sliding off the webbing when you remove your kit, use a weight-belt buckle to secure it.

Many people use a steel buckle, but I prefer to use a plastic one.

If you &quot;never&quot; remove your kit in the water, you can postion the waist strap buckle so that it also holds the light in place. &nbsp; That way, you can still remove the light if you need to (by unfastening the waist strap buckle) and the light is held in place when the waist buckle is fastened. &nbsp; But, that isn't really an option for UK diving.

Bob

Frogkick.. mate be careful using tie wraps... they snap so easily with the slightest twist... I watched sixty quids worth of kit sink back down somewhere around the Glanmire one day because of a tie wrap that I'd hastily used on a dive boat..... never again!

Gulp ... What do you suggest using instead. The two jubilee clips sitting on the inner tubing are VERY secure. Question is what best to use to create a loop to thread the harness through? I have a bit of extra harness webbing left. Is it more secure to simply clamp that under the jubilee clips??

Exactly right.

just in case the webbing does slip through the jubilee clip (can't see how), I'm thinking to tie a very small bungee loop to my BP and run the umbilical cable through it. that way in the unlikely event the cannister goes south, and if the light head is not on my hand or clipped off (many ifs) then the bungee loop will catch the light head before the whole contraption heads towards the bottom. Should cover double failure scenarios..

Don't bother. You can do the jubilee clip up so tight there is no way the webbing will slip.

Of course if you are strict about always having your light head either on your hand or clipped off with a robust, positive clip, then you will always have a second point of attachment as backup.

Chris
