I'm currently setting up my first backplate and harness and I'm following the DIR setup as these were the clearest instructions I could find on the net.

Problem is the fantastic, stiff webbing I've got for the rest of the harness will not work for the crotch strap loop as it will not go through the slider four times. Clearly I need another method or another webbing!

Anybody had similar probs? Did you use a different webbing for the crotch strap? If so where can I get some? I don't actually have a convenient LDS at present.

You don't want rigid webbing as a crotch strap - it'll chafe!

I found some nice soft green stuff for mine.. goes well with the yellow rigid stuff

I agree with Dominic to try and get some softer webbing for the crotch strap.

Also, on a used BP that I bought, the previous owner used stainless steel bolts instead of sliders.  I use this for my doubles and it eems to work fine for me.

<font color='#000080'>I've got a load of softer webbing if you want that. Are you at the Stoney gig? You can have it then. If not, let me know. My man in the rope shop can do loads of different colours/sizes, but the postage will be comparatively high. Last lot cost me 50p per metre.

I've just replaced it with stiffer webbing for my harness, you can have 4m of slightly used stuff for the price of a beer.

Digs.

You can get an adjustable crotch strap with front and rear d-rings from Underwater Explorers It's £25 but it's mde from soft webbing and is stitched where the front d-ring and loop is.

They'd have to be gold d-rings at that price     - the Dive Rite one (in either 1&quot; or 2&quot; webbing) only costs £5.80!
And Steve - glad to be of use!
Bags I get first go (after you of course) &nbsp;

Thanks for all the replies. I'm keen to make it up myself so may take you up on that offer Digger. I won't be at the Stoney gig though. I'm going to a chandlers tomorrow to have a look but if I don't get it there I will be in touch.

Regards
Spike
