Hi all,

I'm looking to change my undersuit for a 400g thinsulate and until today was assuming I would have to buy a DUI suit. But I noticed that Polar Bears have a suit called PB400 which is slightly cheaper and made to measure.

Just wondering if anyone has one, or has had a chance to try one out? How does it compare with the DUI suit?

Cheers,

Fraser.

<font color='#000080'>Hi

I was speaking to AndyK the other day and he mentioned one guy on his latest fundamentals course who had one of the new Polar Bear drysuits and undersuit.

He told me that the drysuit was fine but the undersuit isn't cut right. They have put extra panels under the arms on the drysuit but have left the undersuit as it is. This meant he couldn't reach his valves very well. The seams wouldn't give. The guy who bought it is taking it to Polar Bear to complain. If you buy the made to measure it might be worth asking if they can put stretch panels under the arms.

Hope that helps

Andy

<font color='#000080'>Hi,

that drysuit looks pretty good to me. An alternative to DUI or FifthD maybe?

Don't like it. They sever your hands and decapitate you before they let you wear it

Hi Andy,

Thanks a lot for the input - I'll have to take it up with PB I guess.

Mark,

Have to confess I've been looking at that suit too. I mailed Polar Bears for more info but not heard anything back yet. If Polar Bears go to the London show maybe I'll be able to try one in comparison to a TLS...

As for the cool 5th D stuff, does anyone happen to know if there are issues with CE certification? After seeing his suit I asked MHK about getting some in to the UK and that seemed to be a sticking point.

Dom,

Your humour is ridiculous, and thus excellent. &nbsp;

Cheers,

Fraser.

Hi I have a new DUI type B 400g undersuit and I have a few issues with the way it's put together: First, the bottom half of the legs (around the calf) isn't tapered and unless you suffer from elephantiasis (I wanted to be a med student ...) i.e legs like wooden posts, there is way too much slack down there and it serves no purpose. Plenty of slack around the knees where it's needed. On the shoulder side, it's not too bad and you can reach the valves with a bit of exercise, but there is a big lump of extra fabric around my lower back around the kidneys which also serves little purpose. It would be well worth going for a MTM if posible. Another nagging issue is that I feel it is more difficult to get efficient air migration through the suit to dump efficiently. In retrospect I would now buy something with 400g around the torso, 200g around arms/legs and have it MTM. I believe Polar do such a thing. Or if you are interested I will sell you my DUI 400g and buy myself one of those!!

Hi guys,

I bought myself a PB400 undersuit at the weekend &nbsp;

They had a suit for me to try and aside from being unbelievably warm it did pull a bit under the arms, so I asked for that area to be modified when the suit is put together (it's made to measure).

No delivery date yet, but if anyone is interested after I've put a couple of dives on it I'll post a report.

Cheers for the advice.

Fraser.

Fraser, or anyone else,

Have you tried out the undersuit yet? I'm keen to hear any reports on its use, particularly movement at the shoulder.

Cheers

Lawrence

Hi Lawrence,

Yes I've got half a dozen dives on the new undersuit and I can report it is superb. I actually made a point of wanting flexibility built in to the shoulders when I ordered the suit and it came back a little wide in the chest but I can reach my valves no problem (I haven't tried valves on a single rig yet).

I'm the envy of my DUI 400g wearing buddies though as the suit is made to measure (no tree trunk legs), cheaper and has a much better coating than the DUI.

I haven't found any drawbacks yet. It is a world away from my old undersuit (a Weezle Extreme) and was easily warm enough to wear with nothing under it in 5 degrees C.

Please feel free to PM me if you need any more info.

All the best,

Fraser.
