| What IS the logic behind twin wings being horseshoes and single wings being donuts?

| I've heard that a horseshoe shape allows you to trap some air on the same side that you are carrying something heavy (which you are supposedly more likely to carry when using twins), thus helping to balance things out. Or something like that. Perhaps. :-)
