fundamentals of better diving what a book

half way through the book and finding it even more than interesting,
my question is can someone who as never done any diving just do this course of the cuff?
daft question im sure but seam a great way to learn, people have said dive dive dive but surely learning bad habits is twice as hard to get rid off when established plus if you learn from the off with this technique surely this stand you in a better stead however you want to progress
    many thanks
    Paul

Is this not the same question you have already asked? If it isn't the answers will be the same.

    You can do the course.
    or
You can just dive some more and find out what you want from your diving.

Yes I owned it before Scubee and it moulded my diving into what it is today.

    Safe diving,

Yes you can learn this stuff straight off Paul and most people who try it like it, but as Lou says, the best way is to see some people, go diving with them and see if you like it.

Therefore, if I were you, I would join DIRx, make a post to say you are interested in some GUE experience diving with a list of possible dates and locations and I am sure someone will be along to help.

If you weren't so far north, I would offer to help out myself.

A better spend (I would say), is to the get the Rec workbook from the GUE site...cracking read and well worth the money.

Whats stopping you just doing what you have been taught already properly?

Do you need someone else to structure it for you?

    Cant you do that yourself?

There is only one reason to start down the DIR path and thats because you want to be a DIR diver. Not a better diver, there are many ways to be a better diver, just a DIR diver.

Its excellent training and its a good way of diving OC

    But with comments like:

but surely learning bad habits is twice as hard to get rid off when established plus if you learn from the off with this technique surely this stand you in a better stead however you want to progress

You have a head start on the elitist mind set ninja crap which spoils an otherwise excellent system.

I read this book out if interest and while it is a good read and a lot of the stuff makes good sense there is nothing original in there.

The wheel has not been reinvented, maybe it had the edges smoothed a bit but the basics are the same for all divers the rest is just preference or perceived kudos.

If it is what you want/need then go for it but you can become a better diver through your own efforts if you so choose.

please excuse my ignorance but becoming a DIR diver comes hand in hand with becoming a better allround diver does it not ?

Do you need someone else to structure it for you?

yes feel i do need struture how do i know i am doing wrong

Whats stopping you just doing what you have been taught already properly?
