| the most important factor has to be the willingness of the crew... with that ..almost evey difficulty is surmountable . H

| i would of thought the obvious one would be ease of access to the boat at harbour/marina. |

| Hazel got it in one. I would say willingness of crew and dive party to work together to give the right level of help. Thinking about how we all got on in Norway with the level of assistance chris needed then ,we had a few trial and error moments but we got a system working very quickly that involved both the boat crew and the other divers. a lift though would certainly also be good :o)

| A lift, a dedicated area on the boat for kitting up, which may include extra space or extra rail. The majority of disabled poeple I know are very independent characters and would hate to have 'help' from other strangers. MAke the environment less disabling and I am sure a disabled diver and his/her buddy would manage fine. |

| A decent sized head would seem important to me.

| Thanks for your reactions so far. To summerise the feedback in the mean time: A disabled friendly dive boat contains: 1. Dive lift 2. Willingness of the crew 3. The ease of access to the boat at harbour/marina 4. Extra space or extra rail for kitting up 5. A decent sized toilet 6. ???? 7. ???? Best regards, Robert-Jan

| Last resort - appropriate 'Abandon ship' procedure... Water entry. Are they deaf, will they hear a 'now!' ? Visual signals from crew. Facilities required would vary depending on the disability. Toilet could be interesting, the area required is usually quite big. Adrian
