Only 8 weeks!!

I have just had my cast removed today off my left leg. 8 weeks ago I ruptured my archiles tendon playing football (yes I now know I'm too old) however I was living in the past but I was a decent player! I had to use crutches for 8 weeks and in theory couldnt put any weight on my left leg.

I now realise what a difficult time disabled people have travelling, car driving, trains, stations, how far it is walking on the concourse to get to the dive show using crutches!!, catching a train at various platforms at Birmingham New Street station and of course not being able to dive.

I've had to cancel a Red Sea trip departing this Sunday - so I think i now appreciate how difficult individuals with permanent disabilities cope - I'm hopefully now on the road to recovery and start physio on Monday.

I will be more sympathetic and helpfull in the future to the disabled albeit I've only had 8 weeks of it and that was enough!

Phil
