    El Gouna Magazine - Diving with Disabilities

    Our Winter issue of El Gouna magazine will have a diving theme and at the last minute they have asked for an extra article of 1,000 words from me. I have suggested an article about diving with disabilities because I know that Rob Read at the Dive Tribe works closely with Scuba Trust. The magazine have said "Go for it!" I am meeting Rob tomorrow so am sure I will get tons of information for the article.

    I only have a few days to write this but was wondering if there are any disabled divers on YD with personal quotes I could use about their experiences? On the Scuba Trust website there are a few short personal quotes so I was wishing to expand on this.

    I have also found the website for IAHD. I also have a friend in Germany who is a diving doctor and wrote the diving medical guidelines for disabled diving in Germany.

    A lot of the readers of El Gouna magazine will be non-divers and have no understanding of the underwater world so I will have to bear this in mind too when I write the article.

    Anyhow, just thought I would ask as I have just been plopped in the deep end

    Photographs needed please?

    The magazine are printing the article I have written. Does anyone have any high quality photographs of divers with disabilities in the Red Sea i.e. wheelchairs on diveboats, etc.? The magazine will credit the photographer. Just looking for a couple but need them urgently.

    I know Camel in sharm are set up for wheelchairs etc, it may be worth asking them if they've got some photo's you can use

    Yes, thanks, he has given me some plus some from Easy Divers. Magazine is being printed and will be out in about a week featuring my article. The winter issue will be mainly about diving I have been told. Check out elgounamag maybe early next week.
