Does that mean that you can't use your yacht's engine when abroad then? Watching people get into harbour under sail will be a laugh!

Does anyone know if holding BSAC diver cox entitles me to an ICC (powerboat) for tidal waters? I can get a sailing one as I am and RYA dinghy instructor. I hold RYA powerboat level 2 and 3 (safety boat) but did these on lakes so would not get the tidal ICC endorsement.

Paul

From what i understand is

From chatting to a RYA Instructor first thing this morning from my local yacht Club is:-

1). No one at the RYA is sure about what is going on.
2). The new rules are from affect of 1/1/05 and are being ammended in April 05
3). If a SAILING VESSEL is over 10 mts , then you can use it's engine.
4). They are bringing into line like us COMMERCIAL ENDORSED SKIPPERS, it will need renewing every 5 years, but no medical envolved.

5). PAUL, I very much doubt it, that a ICC will be issued for a BSAC ticket.

6). Also heard that instuctors RYA will be having new rules soon

Remember this is all hear say .

most of it

But as I have a RYA training center - i'll let you in on it

1) the RYA do know what is going on - they administer it and have effectivley communicated with all the training centers principals
2) new rules came into effect 01/01/05
3) A for sail ICC allows you to use its engines regardless of size
4) its nothing to do with commercial endorsements
5) you cant get a icc for a BSAC ticket
7) they already have them effective from 01/01/05 that is.....
Anyone taking a Advanced powerboat course after 01/01/05 who wishes to have that ticket commercially endorsed must take a exam held by an examiner who is not the instructor (currently the same examiners who do the yatchmaster exams)

regards

BSAC NDC bulletin

Very randomly, as I asked this question a few days ago, the BSAC NDC bulletin was emailed to me this morning. I can't upload it as it is too big but apparently the MCA have now recognised BSAC diver cox as qualifying for an ICC. They don't give details of how to get it but I assume an email to the RYA would be a step in the right direction??
