MV Faithful- anyone been on it?

Am looking at booking MV Faithful for the late May bank holiday weekend (3 days). He used to operated out of Oban but is now in Plymouth. Anyway- I had the grand tour on Sunday and it seemed pretty well set up.

Anyone been on it and if you have, what was it like for diving and apres-diving?

Ta.

MV faithful

Hi - I have dived with Mick and Jenny a couple of times when they were based in Oban. Great couple. Great boat, great food.

MV Faithfull

I have dived with Mick and Jenny quite a few times over the years, mainly oban, coll, tiree and ireland. it's micks first season in plymouth and he has asked for my group to go down the weekend before your trip to dive a few wrecks so we can give him feed back on whats worth(on top of the well known sites) while to dive there for other groups for the season.

that weekend i think we are mainly diving wrecks 30-55m range, as for the boat it's mint (its there home year round) and as such is kept like a home!!!

No probs with the ladder either!

jennys cooking gets top marks(you will see what i mean when you are there)
how she can cook a full roast for ten divers in a tiny galley beats me every time!!!!!! and mick is laid back if you want deep he will do it, if you want shallow he will do it, he just wants all the divers in the group to be happy and enjoy them selves.

hope this helps

ATB.

I have dived with Mick and Jenny twice in Oban. We were onboard when they ran aground off Tiree - that was an experience I can tell you!!

My trips have never been completely perfect due to 1) running aground and 2) the compressor pumping our tanks full of oil! They are nice people though and Jenny's cooking is pretty good (not quite as large portions as on Salutay or Hjalmar Borge though). Mick knows his stuff handling the boat and is able to put you onto wrecks fairly easily.

The boat is comfortable and the kitting up area is not too bad (certainly better than Salutay anyway). The ladder is fine, I don't remember any specific problems. Mick has run his filling whips to the bow so you don't have to drag your kit to the stern for filling which is nice.

All in all, I have not had the best experiences on this boat but Mick and Jenny are certainly hard working and you will have a good trip with them.

I was on the MV Diving Belle enroute to coll when the pan pan went out! As we had seen the faithful in Tob the night before with YBOD`s on board we were all keen for salvage :-)

I chartered the Faithful the following year, by which time the compressor had been replaced with 2 coltri subs(though one had died after only 25hours), the boat is immaculate inside, food is very good, plentiful and veggies did not complain either. Kitting area is good and I had no problem with the ladder. Mick is very laid back and jenny is a great cook!

Depth junkie will have fond recollections of his intro to the faithfull, and Lions Mane jellyfish. Though we are all still puzzled as to why he kissed it! :-)

We were so convinced that we were going to end up in the water/on a liferaft that a couple of people ran to the bow, inflated all the wings and came back to the stern with an armful of fins, masks, hood and gloves!! All while she was listing to both port and starb'd very violently, taking on water both sides. I think there were just 2 YBODs on there, one brand new! The only salvageable items that as far as I know have not been found were a VR3 and a Citizen Aqualand that were sitting on the freezer while the owner was taking his drysuit off when we hit the rock!
